Curve
for US 97 was re-striped in 2006 to let turning vehicles on OR 138 see
oncoming vehicles and determine if they are going straight or turning. A red flashing light was added to the stop
sign and increased the size and
installed additional guide signs for OR 138 in 2005. These measures should have a positive
impact 42% of the crashes occurring at this location. |

rear end (78% W-E), rear end crashes due to high speed and numerous
accesses. Several crashes could have
occurred in 2003 (59% total crashes occurred in 2003), 65 % at Dean Swift Rd |
Pork
chop constructed in 2006 to restrict left turns out of Dean Swift Rd. The Access Management Plan from the Purcell
to Providence Project is being implemented to reduce turning movements and
conflicts along this portion of highway.
Future median is proposed for US 20, this would reduce this city
street to Rt in - Rt out. |
Mitigation
as development occurs |
Several
frontage and backage roads need to be built to reduce the number of accesses
and implement the AM Plan for this section of highway. Reduction of direct access to the highway
is not agreeable to the business owners along the highway. The AM Plan is not adopted in the City of
Bend's TSP. |
