This is the third edition of the Intersection Safety Issue Briefs developed by the Federal Highway Administration Office of Safety. The Issue Briefs are targeted to transportation professionals including transportation engineers, planners, safety experts, policymakers, and others in conjunction with meetings with the general public and with decision makers. The Issue Briefs can also be used by a far wider audience of people and organizations that want to promote intersection safety issues within their areas of influence.
In the past, the Issue Briefs have been used to supplement training courses and seminars and have been used at organizational conferences.

The Issue Briefs are available in print form or electronically on the Federal Highway Administration Web site at safety.fhwa.dot.gov and on the Institute of Transportation Engineers Web site at www.ite.org. Issue Briefs are available for organizations to use and post on their Web sites. The goal is to provide this information to the widest audience possible within the education, law enforcement and engineering communities and to the general public.
