Plan your own campaign

In 1995, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) created the Stop Red Light Running Program. At the time, failure to comply with traffic control devices was the cause of approximately 22 percent of all urban crashes. The FHWA program was designed to educate the public on the dangers of red light running and increase enforcement efforts at a grassroots, community level.

Since 1998, the American Trauma Society (ATS) has worked with the FHWA to deliver the program nationwide. Since its inception, the program has been piloted in numerous communities, with an average decrease in red light running incidents of about 15 percent. With a well-planned program, your community can experience the same, or even better, benefits.
