International Highway Safety
A goal of the Federal Highway Administration in engaging in international highway safety activities is to promote highway safety both domestically and internationally. FHWA:
- participates in joint international safety activities such as PIARC and OECD
- shares knowledge of our program with international visitors
- technical cooperation
- international harmonization of crashworthy standards
- obtaining knowledge of safety practices if instituted in the U.S. that may contribute to reducing crashes, and
- participating in departmental wide safety initiatives.
