Highway Safety Improvement Program

The Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) is a federally-funded program (90 percent federal funds plus 10 percent local match) that is administered through your State Department of Transportation (DOT). The program is intended to provide funds for safety improvements on all public streets and highways with the intention to reduce the severity and number of crashes. Generally, only locations with a crash history are eligible for project funding.

For more information on this program and to determine if you are eligible for funding to replace some of your traffic signs, contact your State DOT contact.
