The program provides grants for fiscal years 2006 through 2009 for the continued operation of the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse.

The program provides funding to a national nonprofit foundation for the operation of the National Work Zone Safety Information Clearinghouse (NWZSIC), created to assemble and disseminate, by electronic and other means, information relating to the improvement of roadway work zone safety.
Funds authorized by this section shall be available for obligation in the same manner as if apportioned under Chapter 1 of 23 U.S.C., except that the funds shall be available until expended and shall not be transferable.

The Federal share is 100%.
Section 1410 authorizes FHWA to provide funding for the continued operation of the NWZSIC. The NWZSIC is managed by the Texas Transportation Institute through a partnership with ARTBA. After completion of a contract package and audit, FHWA intends to enter into a cooperative agreement with ARTBA to continue operation of the work zone clearinghouse and expand its capabilities to reflect state-of-the-art technology and web-based information and training techniques.
