Program Purpose
The program involves conducting a study of methods to reduce collisions between motor vehicles and wildlife.

Program Features
The program will include several features:
- A study of methods to reduce collisions between motor vehicles and wildlife in consultation with appropriate experts
- A report to Congress
- A manual to support State efforts to reduce wildlife vehicle collisions
- A training course based on the manual
Funding
No separate funds are identified in the legislation.
Implementation
FHWA Offices of Safety R&D, Safety, Environment & Planning, Federal Lands, the Resource Center, and the Division Offices will work together to complete the study and will promote the products to State DOTs and others involved in wildlife management such as Departments of Natural Resources and the National Park Service. The report to Congress will be delivered by August 2007, the Manual and the training course are expected to be completed by August 2008.
