Figure 3.14 Piedmont Triad Speed Management Study Results – Long Description

Figure 3.14 is a bar chart depicting the before-and-after injury rate for a project in Randolph County, North Carolina. The Piedmont Triad Regional Planning Organization reviewed the outcomes of converting a four-lane road to a two-lane road, with a middle turning lane. The evaluation showed an increase in the number of pedestrians and bicyclists using the road, and decreases in speed and the injury rate. The injury rate went from 3.6 before the improvement to 1.2 afterwards. The purpose of showing the data is to convey the use of before-and-after studies for monitoring purposes.
