Integrating Safety in the Rural Transportation Planning Process

Figure C.1 Example Completed Implementation Worksheet – Long Description

Figure C.1 is an example completed form used to help Regional Planning Organizations understand how to fill out the Implementation Worksheet. The example used is for the public involvement planning task. It shows how Regional Planning Organizations would use this document to fill in their future goals for incorporating safety into public involvement, the strategy they would like to use to achieve this goal, and the specific actions that could be taken. The goal for this example is: “Gain a better understanding of the public's perception of regional safety priorities.” The strategy to achieve this is: “Identify three to four questions to ask the public about safety in the survey being used to solicit input on the long range transportation plan.” One of the actions to meet this strategy is: “Review available regional crash data to identify where crashes are trending up to ask the public specifically about those areas.”
