This addendum updates the FHWA Acceptance letter WZ-108 to include a description and detail drawing of acceptable applications of the Phoenix molded rubber base as a multi-purpose sign stand.

The Phoenix sign stand is acceptable for use with an array of 3 or 4 smaller signs, made of .080 inch solid aluminum or lighter substrate of same size, each mounted to post-mast in two places using attachment hardware as detailed on drawing.

The square footage of the combined small panels shall equal no more than 10 square feet total, and not to exceed the tested height of 80 inches measured from the ground to the top of the sign panel. A drawing is enclosed for reference. Previous testing demonstrates acceptable performance of a 48-inch diamond sign and therefore this sign panel array will not adversely affect the crashworthy performance of the Phoenix molded rubber base sign stand and it is acceptable for use on the National Highway System (NHS).
