The Strategic Highway Safety Plan Implementation Process Model

This figure describes the relationship between the SHSP and the HSIP process. HSIP problem identification activities should incorporate SHSP goals, emphasis areas, and data/analysis. HSIP countermeasure identification should demonstrate consistency with SHSP strategies. HSIP project prioritization should be aligned with SHSP priorities and action plans. Information generated during HSIP project implementation should be used to monitor and track overall SHSP implementation efforts. The evaluation of HSIP improvements should provide information useful for SHSP evaluation activities. Updates to the SHSP should be informed by the results of HSIP evaluation efforts.
