The Strategic Highway Safety Plan Implementation Process Model

This figure describes the relationship between the SHSP and the HSP process. During the first two steps of the HSP process (problem identification; goals and objectives) planners should incorporate SHSP goals, emphasis areas, and sata/analysis. HSP countermeasure identification should be consistent with SHSP strategies. HSP project development and selection should be aligned with SHSP priorities and action plans. After development of the HSP, project implementation should feed into tracking of SHSP implementation, and HSP evaluation should inform SHSP updates.
