Scale and Scope of Safety Assessment Methods in the Project Development Process
Long Description
The predicted average crash frequency equals the product of the average total crashes and the crash modification factor for the respective curve and the local calibration factor (Base Equations Using C sub x equals 0.97 as the local calibration factor):
- Total number of predicted crashes for existing curve equals the product of 1.469 and 4.58 and 0.97 equals 6.52. (Total Crashes, Existing)
- Total number of predicted crashes for proposed curve equals the product of 1.469 and 5.71 and 0.97 equals 8.14. (Total Crashes, Proposed)
- Crash reduction equals the difference between 6.52 and 8.41 divided by 6.52 equals -25 percent. (Crash reduction)
