Figure 6.16 is a chart from the Washington State Department of Transportation, showing the before and after results of implementing the cable median barrier program throughout the State. The purpose of the graphic is to illustrate how monitoring and evaluating programs can demonstrate safety results. More specifically, the figure shows that reported fatalities and serious injuries are lower than the projected fatalities and serious injuries as a result of installing cable median barriers.
