Long Description

Figure 6.3 is a chart showing sample data for the percent of total crashes and the percent of severe crashes that take place by functional classification (local streets, collectors, minor arterials, principal arterials, and interstates). The figure shows that a higher proportion of crashes are occurring on principal arterials. The purpose of the figure is to make the point that reviewing functional classification data can encourage an agency to develop safety goals using this information.
